Accessibility Needs

Please email us ahead of time with any accessibility needs so we can be prepared to best serve you during the performance.

Audience Engagement

Check out our Alley Etiquette Video: We encourage students to engage with the actors while not distracting them. Allowing them to react naturally to moments in the performance—whether through laughter, surprise, or other emotions are welcomed. Please avoid shushing them, as this may diminish their experience. We want everyone to engage in a way that enhances the enjoyment of the show for all.

1. REQUESTING TICKETS

Interest Form

Homeschools will request tickets to student matinees through the Interest Form. An Alley Theatre staff member will email you to confirm the date and number of tickets requested.

2. BOOKING AGREEMENTS & PURCHASING TICKETS

Convenient Payment System

Upon confirmation, our team will send a Booking Agreement with a private link to the main contact listed on the Interest Form. Each family can purchase up to 9 tickets per transaction.

Seat Assignment: While you won't be able to select your seats, rest assured we will ensure your group is seated together.
Link Availability: Links will be active for a specified period. After the deadline, any unpurchased tickets will be released.
Payment Links: Payment links will be provided, allowing you to pay for your individual tickets directly on our site.
- For larger Homeschool Groups (co-ops), share the link only with your homeschool families and only for the number of tickets requested. Additional tickets are subject to availability.

3. CANCELLATIONS

Cancellation Policy

It is the responsibility of the Group Contact to cancel any Student Matinee reservations as soon as possible and prior to the payment due date. This gives us plenty of time to give schools on the waitlist and opportunity to vist the Alley.

Day of

Our team won't be reachable via office lines as we help welcome our students for the matinee performance. If you have any questions on the day of your field trip, please call or text this number directly.

THE BIG DAY

The Alley welcomes hundreds of students from all over Houston to each Student Matinee. For our staff's safety and yours, please review our audience expectations for the performance as well as the arrival procedure.

1. SETTING EXPECTATIONS

Prohibited Items

We want students to have the best theatrical experience! Please ensure the following items do not enter the theater to ensure the audience is engaged with the actors and without distractions. Audible moments of surprise, laughter, and shock are common, and shushing a student will stifle their experience.

The theatre reserves the right to confiscate any prohibited item prior to or during the performance, to be returned afterwards. Please refer to your Booking Agreement or contact education@alleytheatre.org if you have any questions or medical needs.

No Food or Drinks

No Bags or Backpacks

About Our Space

Alley Theatre does not have concessions available for purchase during student matinee performances.
Our Theatre is kept at a cool temperature for the actors performing under the hot lights – we recommend bringing a jacket to stay warm.

2. ARRIVAL PROCEDURE

Building Entry

We encourage groups arriving in private vehicles (not busses) to arrive by 9:30 a.m. when the house is open. Lobby opens at 9:00 a.m.
Use the side entrance in the alleyway and check in at Homeschool Check-In. Our staff will have printed tickets for your group.
Use the elevator to the 3rd floor and wait in the Skyline Bar area. An usher will greet you and take you to your designated seats. Seats are assigned the week of the performance.
Show starts 10:00 a.m.
Stay for a 20-minute talkback after the show. This is a great Q&A session with actors, designers, crew, and other Alley Theatre production and administrative team.
