José Alfredo Jiménez was the undisputed king of ranchera. Born poor and orphaned at an early age, he began creating music at age 10 - without any training - and eventually became one of the most influential singer-songwriters, a national hero, and icon for the Mexican people.

Born poor and orphaned at an early age, he began creating music at age 10 - without any training - and eventually became one of the most influential singer-songwriters, a national hero, and icon for the Mexican people. In his short but prolific life, he composed over 1000 songs, including some of his best-known tunes such as "Ella," "Cuatro Caminos," "La Que Se Fue," and "Guitteras de Media Noche."
